Trends for FW18-19

Welcome again Fashion Lovers, I see you’re here again to check out the upcoming Fall/Winter Trends for 2018-2019.

Same as done for the past Season, I’m here to list a few of the trends for Fall/Winter as seen on the Fashion Shows with some pictures. You can Judge for yourself whether it’s a yes or a no for you.
What I do like in general is that most of the Trends aren’t generated for the the ice cold Winter, which is just fine because I’m hoping for a not so cold or wet Winter.
We can’t complain here in Belgium because we did have this October the few days of Indian Summer still, but now these days are over I’m so ready for the following Fall/Winter Trends.

1.  Layering

Whether you go all-in on a Trend or are a bit more hold back, both are allowed.

2.  Wild West

The Wild Wild West, but the looks are not extreme wild. Think more of fringes, high-waisted belts, leather and especially black instead of Brown and Camel coloured looks.

3.  Florals

We can find this trend in all-over prints, on maxi-dresses as well as mini lengths.
Saying that Comme Des Garçons going all-in on this, is even an understatement.

4.  Padded Jackets

Who would have thought that this practical comfort wear would become a hit among the fashion trends? But we’ll be seeing a lot more of comfortable trends next season, I guess the fashion industry doesn’t want us to be cold anyway for once?

5.  Eighties Shoulders

Okay, I wasn’t even born back then but I love it when old trends become hot again. Supersized shoulders are back this season and sometimes even exaggerated and a bit out of control. But hey, isn’t that what Fashion sometimes should be?  Then again, supersize aka comfy shizzle for the win guys!

6.  Parkas

Honestly, not much to say here. I didn’t even like wearing a parka in my youngest years. And being born in ’91 , this means a lot knowing that I grew up in the flashy Nineties. SO, there’s got to be a damn beautiful parka out there before I would even consider wearing this trend. The trend itself comes in various versions, from oversized to light and airy and in all sizes and shapes. Just like all of us are.

7.  Faux Fur

As long as it’s fake, I love it. I’m a huge animal lover so I hate actual fur! But I like the fluffy soft feeling during the colder days of a fake little fur. No matter the trend, always have one during Fall/Winter.

8.  Fringing

Not really the same as the fringes we have within the cowgirl looks, but still Fringes. So, same as we had during the Spring/Summer Trends it seems that the fringes are not going anywhere. It always gives an extra touch of glamour. Combined in an evening dress or look, it will create a small fairytale in your outfit. Admit it, which girl didn’t like Tinkerbell or Cinderella?

9.  Workwear

Fashion is mostly a wink to society here and there and this season it’s blue collars they’re referring to. As in ‘Orange is the new Black’, think a lot of Orange, overalls and plastic (boots).

10.  Capes

Yes yes yes! Back from being on a break for a while, but happy they’re back for next season. Always thought it instantly gives you a catwalk feeling, boosts your entire look and sometimes makes you fierce. And it’s something so easy-going and comfortable to wear. We like.

11.  FLUO FROM THE 90s

Look-at-me-pieces but in a good kind of way. Think of youngsters, techno, festivals and especially a lot of colours such as Yellow, Pink , Blue, Green and yes they come in Neon too. And Balmain took it to the next level of 90s Fashion!

12.  Night Fever

Diamonds and sequins shimmering and litting up the catwalk. No sparkling dresses as in the Great Gatsby style, but more long gowns or jumpsuits.

13.  Sheepskin

Urban and sporty look a bit of mixed with a Wild West looks sometimes or some different patchwork as seen on Gigi Hadid with Tod’s.
PS: you got to see the entire Fashion Show from Tod’s, so many cute dogs on the Runway!

14.  Scarf Prints

I have about hundred scarfs in my closet, so loving this trend. Although I would think it would have been more for Spring/Summer look. I am not complaining anyway to brighten up the colder days with this trend. It’s not just a pattern scarf, but think patterns all over as well as bandana’s and so on.

15.  Hologram

Graphic designs which bring futuristic holographic looks. The future is now!

18.  Check

They come in all variations and colours this seaon. Blue and yellow ensembles as seen at Versace or a complete mix with Burberry. It’s all up to you. Personally, I’m not in for the game so taking this one on a basic level.

19.  Take the PJ outside

Long jackets or dresses thath might look like nightgowns can be taken outside. Just don’t take this fashion trend too literally please and just dress up at least a bit warm.

20.  Long Gowns

Not as the PJ for outside, but gowns inspired by Moroccan style. In the trend it’s more casual and little accessories on it. It’s all about feminine elegance which creates a little poetry.

21.  Leopard

Yup, every now and then the Leopard print makes his comeback on the Runway. I think this fits better during the colder days, so happy to see this during this season.
The designers didn’t mind going from hear to toe in Leopard, so don’t worry about overdoing it.

22.  Couture Puffs

Maybe not so easy to wear on a daily basis, but if we can find pieces with a little less ‘Puff’ then I’m in. It follows a bit the trend of the Eighties Shoulders.

23.  Knitwear

A true Winter Trend. Oversized and warm pieces and all tucked in up to the neck with thick knitted scarves.

And that’s about it ladies and gentlemen. Let me know whether you like any of trends or not and have fun dressing up this Season.
But don’t forget that one of the best Fall/Winter Trends is the one where you dress us warmly.
